Laura Weightman (Morpeth Harriers) was an impressive winner of the ‘On Camp with Kelly’ 800m race at the Aviva British Grand Prix.

Pacemaker Leigh Lennon (Newham & Essex Beagles) went through the bell in 61.5 secinds with the rest of the field some way behind. When she dropped out at the 600m point passed in 91 seconds, Tara Bird (Woodford Green with Essex Ladies) was leading the pack behind.
As they rounded the final bend Laura was in a good position to attack and moved ahead of Tara on the home straight to win in 2:06.33. Guest athlete Sarah Kelly (Dundee Hawkhill) was also finishing fast and took second in a Scottish Under 17 record of 2:06.82. Tara took third in 2:07.37 ahead of another guest athlete, Karen Johns (North Shields Poly), who clocked 2:07.90. Dani Christmas (Crawley AC) finished fifth in 2:08.37, Stevie Stockton (Vale Royal) sixth in 2:10.32 and Rachael Thompson (Liverpool Harriers) seventh in 2:10.64.
