Emma Pallant recorded an excellent 55:09 in her debut over 10 Miles to finish ninth at the Bupa Great South Run in Portsmouth on Sunday 24 October behind winner Grace Momanyi of Kenya’s 52:03.
The previous weekend Emma had linked up with Aldershot, Farnham & District team mates Charlotte Purdue and Louise Small to win the Nike National Road Relays in Sutton Park, Birmingham. Running the second of the four 4.3km legs Louise moved the team from sixth to third with a 15:03 clocking. Charlotte then took them into the lead with 13:55, followed up by Emma’s 14:20 to secure the win. Charlotte and Emma’s times were the first and third quickest of the day respectively. Katie Knowles (Bristol & West) clocked 14:53 to help their B team to seventh place.
A number of the USA based Brits were in cross country action in Terre Haute on 16 October. Mitch Goose (Iona) finished 20th in 24:04.4, David Forrester (Florida State) 30th in 24:14.5 and Ben Lindsay (Iona) 39th in 24:21.4 in the men’s Blue race while Kris Gauson (Butler) was 33rd in the White race in 24:21.1, both over 8km. In the women’s 6km races Hannah Brooks (Florida State) was 223rd in the Blue race in 22:59.3 while Charlotte Browning (Florida) was 44th in the White race in 21:14.1.
Non Stanford finished in 19th place at the ITU Triathlon World Cup Race in Tongyeong, South Korea on Saturday 16 October. She clocked 2:10.32 for the 1500m swim (19:39), 40km bike (70:01) and 10km run (39:49). Fellow Brit Jodie Swallow won the race in 2:01.38.
