Laura Weightman (Morpeth Harriers) ran a brilliant solo 4:09.60 for 1500m at the Tartan Games in Gateshead on Saturday 21 August. This took over three seconds off the personal best of 4:12.95 she had run at the Aviva London Grand Prix just eight days before.
Ricky Stevenson (New Marske Harriers) finished fifth in an Under 23 1500m race in the pre-programme of the IAAF Diamond League meeting in Zurich on Thursday 19 August in 3:45.43. The race was won by Jakub Holusa of the Czech Republic in 3:44.71.
A number of OCWK athletes were in action at a BMC meeting in Eltham, London, on Wednesday 18 August. Andrew Osagie (Harlow AC) won the Sydney Wooderson Memorial 800m in 1:47.80 by half a second from Joe Durrant.
In the Women's Challenge 800m Dani Christmas (Crawley AC) was narrowly beaten by Rose-Anne Galligan of Ireland who clocked 2:02.97 to Dani’s 2:02.99. Tara Bird (Woodford Green with Essex Ladies) ran her second quickest time ever of 2:03.21 in third place with Charlotte Best (Crawley AC) fourth in 2:04.00. Claire Tarplee (Solihull & Small Heath) mproved her personal best to 2:05.36 in sixth place. In the 800m B race Jordan Kinney (Royal Sutton Coldfield) was fifth in 2:10.66 and Heather Timmins (Warrington AC) ran 4:37.02 in a mixed 1500m race.
