OCWK Athletes win at Territorial Championships

There were some convincing wins for ‘On Camp with Kelly’ athletes at the Territorial Championships which took place over the weekend of 16-17 June.

At the South of England Championships at Crystal Palace, Emma Pallant (Aldershot Farnham & District) took the Under 20 800m and 1500m titles in impressive style. In the 800m on Saturday she went to the front from the gun, gradually pulling away from the field to win by four and a half seconds in 2:09.69.

The following day she took up the pace in the 1500m with 400m gone and amassed a five and a half second lead over her club mate Charlotte Purdue (4:28.15), with Plymouth’s Jessica Burns in third (4:30.33). OCWK athlete Lucy Dowsett (Cambridge & Coleridge) took four seconds from her personal best to finish fourth in 4:30.79 and Suzi Boast (Bedford & County) was eighth in 4:48.08 after suffering a fall.

Linzi Snow (Woodford Green with Essex Ladies) took the South of England senior 1500m title with a front running performance, winning by four seconds in 4:22.80. Her club mate Tara Bird took three quarters of a second off her 400m personal best with 54.77 to qualify for the final of the senior 400m and then took the bronze medal later in the day with 55.45.

Despite still being a junior Jess Coulson (Stockport Harriers) won the senior 1500m at the Northern Athletics Championships in Liverpool. Her time of 4:24.59 brought her home three and half seconds ahead of the field. Rachael Thompson (Liverpool Harriers) was a bronze medallist in the senior 400m in 56.69 seconds. Nicola Maddick was sixth in the 800m final in 2:15.12.
