Four ‘On Camp with Kelly’ athletes raced at the prestigious Aviva Grand Prix at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena on Saturday 20 February under the watchful eye of their mentor Dame Kelly Holmes.

Andrew Osagie (Harlow - above far left) and Ed Aston (Cambridge & Coleridge - pictured below) both finished strongly in the men’s 800m to take third and fifth behind winner Marcin Lewandowski of Poland who clocked 1:47.50. Andrew and Ed’s times of 1:47.71 and 1:48.24 respectively were both indoor personal bests and inside the UKA qualifying time (1:48.50) for the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Doha on 12-14 March.

After the race Andrew said: “I’m so elated by my result. I did think that I had a good chance going in to it but I’m really excited about how I performed and the result in general. I feel good but I can
properly feel that performance in my legs now, but I’ll just keep on training and hopefully continue to get better.”
Charlotte Best (Crawley AC - pictured right) ran a personal best for the mile of 4:32.29 in finishing ninth in the race won by Gelete Burka of Ethiopia in 4:23.53. Charlotte’s time places her ninth on the UK indoor all-time list and she joins two other OCWK athletes in the top ten – Hannah England with 4:30.20 and Charlotte Browning with 4:31.24.
Dani Christmas (Crawley AC - pictured below) finished sixth in the women’s 800m in 2:05.92 in a race in which Jenny Meadows broke Dame Kelly’s UK indoor record with a time of 1:59.11.

At the Celtic International in Cardiff on Sunday 21 February Rowena Cole was an easy winner of the Under 20 800m by five seconds in 2:09.44.
Kirsty Hamilton (Bristol & West) was in action at the French Inter-Regional Cross Country Championships in Digne-les-Bains where she finished 21st in the senior women’s race.
