Three ‘On Camp with Kelly’ athletes won medals at the Aviva Indoor World Trials and UK Championships in Sheffield on 13-14 February.
Two of those medals came in the men’s 800m where Andrew Osagie (Harlow AC) took the title with a season’s best of 1:50.21 by 0.34 seconds from Paul Bradshaw. Defending champion Ed Aston (Cambridge & Coleridge) took third in 1:50.58, also a season’s best.

After the race Andrew said “It’s massively good to win. Last year I sat in too much and got caught off guard so in today’s race, I knew that there were going to be some quick finishers. Luckily, my tactics paid off well.”

Andrew had won heat two on Saturday in 1:50.67 while Ed took heat three in 1:51.12. A surprise entrant in heat one was OCWK supervisor Anthony Whiteman (Shaftesbury Barnet - pictured above) who set a UK masters record of 1:52.82, finishing sixth, one hundredth of a second behind Chris Smith (Wirral AC).
Dani Christmas (Crawley AC) added to the medal haul in the women’s 800m, taking third in an indoor best of 2:05.15. The race was won by Jenny Meadows in 2:00.91 and Rachael Thompson (Liverpool Harriers) finished sixth in 2:10.42.
On Saturday Dani and Rachael finished second and third in heat two in 2:09.23 and 2:09.27 respectively. Leigh Lennon finished second in Sunday’s B final in 2:10.97 after clocking 2:12.24 for fifth in heat one on Saturday.
In the women’s 1500m final Hannah Brooks finished seventh in 4:32.98.
In the USA, Charlotte Browning (Aldershot Farnham & District) continued her excellent start to the year, winning the mile at the Husky Classic in Seattle in 4:31.24, taking five seconds off her personal best and moving to equal fifth on the UK indoor all-time list. At the same meeting Kris Gauson (Edinburgh AC) finished 13th in the mile in 4:07.10 and Ross Millington (Stockport Harriers) 15th in the 3000m in an indoor best of 8:12.13.
