OCWK Athletes on form in USA

Hannah englandBoth Hannah England (Oxford City AC) and Charlotte Browning (Aldershot Farnham & District) recorded indoor wins in the USA over the weekend.

Hannah was in action on Friday 29 January at the Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden in New York.  On the tight track (11 laps for the mile) she clocked 4:31.48 to win the women’s mile by 0.02 of a second from the USA’s Sara Hall.

At the Texas A&M Challenge at College Station on Saturday 30 January, Charlotte won the 800m in her fastest time ever, indoors or out, of 2:05.50 and this followed a clocking of 2:06.17 in the medley distance relay the previous day.

Ross Millington (Stockport Harriers) ran two 800m races in Albuquerque, USA, finishing sixth in 1:54.32 on 29 January and fifth in 1:54.98 on 30 January.

Ed Aston (Cambridge & Coleridge) finished second at the Elan Meeting in Bratislava, Slovakia, on Sunday 31 January clocking 1:51.07 behind winner David McCarthy of Ireland’s 1:49.40.  He was in action again in Vienna on 2 February, where he won race 3 in 1:51.37.

Ben Lindsay (Aldershot Farnham & District) was in cross country action overseas at the IAAF Permit Cinque Mulini Cross Country in San Vittore Olana, Italy on 31 January.  He finished in tenth place in the 9.8km race, clocking 30:25 behind winner Humegaw Mesfin of Ethiopia’s 28:03.

Kirsty Hamilton (Bristol & West), who is currently living in France for a year, finished fifth at the Languedoc Roussillon Regional Cross Country Championships, completing the 5.35km course in 21:43.

In the UK, Emma Jackson (City of Stoke) finished ninth in the senior women’s 8km race at the Midland Cross Country Championships at Stafford Common on 30 January in 34:07.

Suzi Boast (Bedford & County) was tenth in the junior women’s 6km race at the South of England Cross Country Championships at Parliament Hill in 25:21.

At the London Games at Lee Valley on 30-31 January, Dani Christmas (Crawley AC) won 800m race 1 by over a second in 2:08.75 and Tara Bird (Woodford Green) finished second in race 1 of the 400m in 55.91.
