‘On Camp with Kelly’ athlete Ricky Stevenson (New Marske Harriers) followed up his win in the 4km race at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country on 9 January with an excellent run over the mile indoors at the New Balance Games in New York, USA, on Saturday 23 January.
Ricky finished second in the race in 3:56.31 behind Andy Baddeley who clocked 3:55.64. Ricky’s time was the fastest he has ever run
for the mile indoors or out and places him seventh on the UK indoor all-time list.
Two ‘On Camp with Kelly’ athletes were in action at the McCain UK Cross Challenge meeting in Antrim on 23 January. Mitch Goose (City of Norwich - pictured right) finished sixth in the senior men’s 9km race in 29:24 which was won by Kenyan Mike Kiegen in 27:49. Stevie Stockton (Vale Royal - no263 on the pic below) took 12th place in the senior women’s 5.4km race behind winner Mary Cullen of Ireland’s 18:45.
At the Northern Athletics Cross Country Championships, also on 23 January, Alison Leonard (Blackburn Harriers) finished ninth in the junior women’s 6km race in 24:59.
