Dame Kelly has been travelling around the country in the last few weeks catching up with the ‘On Camp with Kelly’ athletes and coaches.
Kelly visited Birmingham University on 18 November (photo above), Loughborough University on 19 November and St Mary’s University College on 2 December where a number of the OCWK athletes train and study (photo below on the page). On Wednesday 9 December some of the athletes and coaches based in the North of England met up at SportCity in Manchester.
The purpose of the sessions was for Kelly to review 2009 with the athletes and coaches and look ahead to and set goals for 2010. After a group session in which Kelly looked back at the achievements of members of the initiative in 2009, each athlete was able to meet with Kelly individually or in a small group to discuss their own goals and aspirations.
Dame Kelly said: “It is great to be able to get the athletes together for sessions like this. When they are together as a group there is a really positive energy in what can sometimes be quite an individual sport. Having review sessions and mentoring opportunities like these provides the athletes with a healthy and motivated environment, giving them a lift for the year ahead.”
