To have been selected by Kelly to be a part of the ‘On Camp with Kelly’ initiative has meant a lot to me. Having an athlete of her calibre recognise my talent has meant that I believe in myself far more now. She has presented me with so many fantastic opportunities and experiences, and I have been so fortunate in being able to learn from her first hand experiences. I’m now a far more confident athlete and feel more prepared for travelling and international competition. Kelly has done a tremendous amount for British athletics. Her achievements in Athens have inspired thousands of juniors to pursue their dreams and believe in themselves. Despite her Olympic double gold, Kelly is such a genuine and down to earth person and the hard work she is continuing to put back into athletics is amazing. Kelly’s life, let alone her achievements, is inspiring. The hurdles that she has overcome have helped me to overcome the hurdles that I have been presented with. Seeing a British athlete win a series of international medals has made me realise that if I’m prepared to work hard then I too can achieve my goals. |
Running has become a part of my life. Training twice a day requires commitment and sacrifice but it’s in no way an inconvenience – running is my source of enjoyment and relaxation. There’s nothing better than pulling my trainers on and stepping out the door for a run. Being part of the sport has shaped my life and made me who I am, providing me with experiences and opportunities that I would otherwise never have had. If I wasn’t training and competing I’m not sure what I’d do with myself every day. My passion for the sport and the drive I have to achieve the goals I have set for myself is definitely a source if motivation for me. My parents are my biggest supporters. They give up all their time to take me training and to travel with me to races. They’ve always supported me and believed in my ability to achieve the goals I’ve set myself, even when I have been injured or under performing. |
