Gladys Bird Supervisor
 
Gladys joined the ‘On Camp with Kelly’ team as a camp supervisor in 2007.

Athletics Career:
  • Represented Great Britain and England (as Gladys Taylor) at pentathlon, sprints, 400m, 400m hurdles and 4x400m including at two Olympic Games, World and European Championships and Commonwealth Games
  • Reached the semi-final of the 400m hurdles and was 4th in the 4x400m at the 1984 Olympics
  • Started athletics aged 16 with Essex Ladies and won two medals in the 200m at the English Schools
  • Senior WAAA medallist at 100m, 200m, 400m, 400m hurdles, long jump and pentathlon
  • WAAA and UK champion at 400m hurdles in 1984
  • Set UK W35 record for 400m

Athletics Roles & Responsibilities:
  • GB Team Manager at various Internationals and Championships including 2003 World Indoor Championships, 2005 European Indoor Championships and 2005 European Junior Championships
  • Team Manger of Woodford Green with Essex Ladies Senior Men’s Team since 2000
  • UKA Level 2 coach, working with a group of Under 17 and Under 20 sprinters and hurdlers at Woodford Green with Essex Ladies

Profession:
  • Worked full time at a City Insurance Company until 1984
  • Whilst living in Tokyo in 1998 and 1999 provided specialist athletics support to school PE staff
