Involvement with OCWK
Simon was one of the 12 male athletes who attended the Male Athlete Get-Together in Leeds in September 2008. He also took part in the 'Eat for Success' Get-Together in October 2009.
He received an 'On Camp with Kelly' Outstanding Achievement Award in 2009 in recognition of his bronze medal in the 1500m at the European Athletics Junior Championships.

Performances in 2009
Simon smashed his 3000m best with 8:06.45 to win at the St Mary's Classic on 3 June and then went to ninth on the UK Under 20 all-time list with a 3:42.29 clocking for 1500m at Watford on 13 June and improved to ninth with 3:41.77 at the BMC Final in Cardiff on 15 August. He won the 1500m title at the Aviva England Under 20 Championships on 27-28 June and then took at bronze medal at the European Athletics Junior Championships. On 1 September he improved his 800m best to 1:50.62.
