Performances in 2010

Laura improved her 1500m personal best to 4:14.43, a qualifying time for the IAAF World Junior Championships and the tenth fastest ever by a GB junior athlete, when winning at the BMC meeting in Manchester on 29 May.  She then secured her selection for the World Juniors by winning the trial race at the Aviva England Under 20 Championships on 19 June and the following weekend made the 1500m final at the Aviva UK Championships.  At the World Juniors she finished sixth in the 1500m final in a personal best of 4:14.31.  She then she has been in excellent form.  She improved her 1500m best again to 4:12.95 when finishing ninth at the Aviva London Grand Prix.  She then went to fourth on the UK Under 20 all-time list with a solo 4:09.60 clocking in Gateshead on 21 August before improving her 800m best to 2:03.18 in a mixed race at Trafford on 24 August.  She also won the 1500m at the BMC Grand Prix Final in 4:12.82.

Performances in 2009

Laura defended her senior girls 1500m title at the Aviva English Schools Championships on 11 July, winning in 4:24.96.  She then took three seconds off her 800m best with 2:05.3 on 15 July and improved her 1500m best to 4:14.9 when winning a mixed race at Jarrow on 3 August.

Performances in 2008

Laura won the 1000m at the competition simulation event during the OCWK Educational Camp in Loughborough in April in 2:57.85 and has improved her personal bests for 800m and 1500m to 2:08.20 and 4:22.20. She finished fifth in the 1500m at the England Athletics Under 20 Championships before winning the Senior Girls 1500m title at English Schools.

Introduction to Athletics

Laura got into athletics at middle school. She enjoyed cross country and track and her PE teacher thought she should go to the local athletics club. She took athletics seriously from the start, always wanting to improve.
