Alison received an ‘On Camp with Kelly’ Outstanding Achievement Award in 2007 in recognition of her silver medal winning performance at the IAAF World Youth Championships and Excellent Achievement Awards in 2008 and 2009. She finished second in the OCWK 800m race at the 2008 Aviva London Grand Prix (after fourth in 2007) and was part of the OCWK group that competed at the pre-meeting to the IAAF Grand Prix in Hengelo in May 2007.

Performances in 2010

Alison ran an excellent solo 2:04.76 to win the 800m at the University Varsity Match on 24 February. She then set an indoor best of 4:23.76 to win the BUCS Indoor 1500m title.  She finished fifth in the 800m final at the Aviva UK Championships on 27 June and third at the England Athletics Senior Championships on 18 July.  She improved her personal best to 2:01.89 in a mixed race at Trafford on 27 July and then again to 2:01.82 when finishing fourth in the OCWK race at the Aviva London Grand Prix.  She took four seconds off her 1500m best with 4:18.52 for fourth place at the BMC Grand Prix Final on 28 August.

Performances in 2009

Alison secured her selection for the European Junior Championships by defending her 800m title at the Aviva England Under 20 Championships where she just missed out on a medal, finishing fourth in the final.

Performances in 2008


After some good cross country performances, Alison made an excellent start to track season with a time of 1:30.96 for 600m at the competition simulation event during the OCWK Educational Camp in Lougborough. She then ran a World Juniors qualifying time of 2:05.4 in her first 800m race of the season and followed that with two excellent new personal bests of 2:03.3 for 800m and 55.1 for 400m at the Lancashire Championships on 10-11 May. She went even quicker with a 2:02.57 clocking at the BMC Nike Grand Prix in Manchester on 31 May to go second on the world junior rankings for 2008.

Alison secured her place in the Norwich Union GB Team for the IAAF World Junior Championships by winning the trial race in Bedford on 22 June in 2:06.85. At the World Juniors she ran a brave race, setting a new personal best of 2:02.15 which places her sixth on the UK Under 20 all-time rankings, but just missed out on a bronze medal, finishing fourth.  In Watford on 30 July she took 15 seconds off her 1500m best with 4:22.82.

Performances in 2007

Alison ran a brilliant race at the IAAF World Youth Championships to win the 800m silver medal. Earlier in the year she had reduced her personal best first to 2:05.56 and then to 2:04.86, which ranks her fourth in the world for her age, and she won the bronze medal in the 800m at the Norwich Union England Athletics Under 20 Championships.

Introduction to Athletics

Alison’s parents ran with Chorley Harriers so she wanted to go along too. She started to take the sport seriously around the age of 14 when she started training regularly on the track in Blackburn. Her first race though was her sister’s primary school fun run when she was four!
