Introduction to Athletics
Lucy discovered that she was best at athletics during PE lessons at primary school and that it was what she enjoyed the most. She loved sports day and beating the boys but had to wait until she was 11 to join the local athletics club.
When Lucy started secondary school she won the Anglian Schools Cross Country Championships and realised that she was actually quite good! She started taking athletics seriously after competing in her first English Schools Track & Field Championships in 2003 – “That really inspired me!”, she says.
