Involvement with OCWK

Hannah was named 'On Camp with Kelly' Athlete of the Year in 2011 in recognition of her silver medal at the IAAF World Championships. She received an Outstanding Achievement Award in 2010 in recognition of her performances at the European Athletics Championships and Commonwealth Games and Excellent Achievement Awards in 2007 and 2009. She was part of the OCWK 4x800m team that set a UK Junior record at the Adidas St Mary’s Relays in 2006.

Performances in 2011
Hannah ran an excellent new indoor best for 1500m of 4:07.24 to finish third in the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham on 19 February and then improved that time to 4:07.13 in Stockholm three days later to place fifth on the UK indoor all-time list. She decided to compete at the European Athletics Indoor Championships but did not qualify for the final after finishing fifth in her heat. After running a brilliant new personal best of 4:01.89 in Barcelona on 22 July Hannah retained her UK 1500m title and secured her selection for the IAAF World Championships. In Daegu she excelled to win the silver medal, employing her trademark sprint finish down the home straight to pass five athletes and cross the line in 4:05.68. She clocked her second fastest time ever of 4:02.03 to finish fifth in the IAAF Diamond League Final in Brussels on 16 September.

Performances in 2010
Hannah showed great form in the indoor season, winning the mile at the Millrose Games in New York in 4:31.48 on 29 January and then smashing her 3000m best with 8:56.72 at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games on 6 February. She ran the UKA 1500m A qualifying standard for the European Athletics Championships with 4:05.53 in Warsaw on 8 June and secured her place in the team when winning the trial race at the Aviva UK Championships on 26 June. On 20 June she clocked 4:05.70 to finish second at the European Team Championships and was just outside her personal best with 4:04.33 for third place at the Aviva British Grand Prix in Gateshead on 10 July. After securing her place in the final with a 4:06.03 clocking for one of the fastest loser spots, Hannah finished tenth in the final at the European Athletics Championships in 4:05.07. At the Commonwealth Games in October she finished fourth in the 1500m in 4:06.83 and fifth in the 800m in a season's best of 2:00.47.

Performances in 2009
After improving her indoor bests for the 1500m and mile in Ghent on 8 February, Hannah took the silver medal in the 1500m at the Aviva European Trials and UK Championships on 15 February. She then improved her indoor best again to 4:09.90 when finishing third at the Aviva Grand Prix in Birmingham on 21 February. In her first outdoor 1500m race of the season she improved her personal best to 4:05.87, an A qualifying standard for the World Championships, at the IAAF Grand Prix meeting in Hengelo on 1 June. She then improved her 800m best to 2:01.50 at Watford on 13 June before running a stunning 1:59.94 (6th on the UK U23 all-time list) to finish fourth at the European Team Championships in Leiria on 20-21 June where she also finished fourth in the 1500m. Hannah took the bronze medal over 1500m at the Aviva World Trials and European Championships on 11 July. After narrowly missing out on selection for the IAAF World Championships she improved her 1500m best to 4:04.29 (3rd on the UK U23 all-time list) in Monaco on 28 July and at the end of the season finished in a brilliant second place at the IAAF World Athletics Final.

Hannah, who was studying for a year at Florida State University, moved into new territory on 14 June when she smashed her personal best by six seconds to win the NCAA 1500m title in an Olympic A qualifying standard of 4:06.19. The time places her third in the UK rankings for 2008 and 21st on the all-time list. Back in the UK, she finished third in the Aviva National Championships in July and won the OCWK 800m race at the Aviva London Grand Prix where she also finished fifth in the 1500m. She has also run personal bests for 800m (2:02.48), the mile (4:35.30i, 11th on the UK indoor all-time list) and 3000m (9:19.25i) and won the NCAA Indoor mile in March. At the end of the year she finished 16th and won team gold in the Under 23 race at the European Cross Country Championships.

Performances in 2007
After an excellent indoor season in which she set a new personal best of 4:17.70 to win the UK Indoor City Challenge Final and was British Universities Indoor champion, Hannah went on to set new personal bests for 1500m (4:12.33) and 800m (2:03.92) outdoors. Over 1500m she won the Norwich Union England Athletics Under 23 Championships, finished fifth at the European Athletics Under 23 Championships, took the silver medal at the British Universities Athletics Championships and finished fourth at the Norwich Union UK Championships.

Introduction to AthleticsHannah joined her local club, Oxford City AC, after taking part in a school cross country race. She took part in all events until she was 14 and then started to specialise in middle distance.
